
March 1, 2024 – Well, once again I am not keeping up with the website nor social media. I have had a lot of fun painting egrets, landscapes, and now boats. The boats were a challenge but ended up being fun once I got some good advice on troublesome parts. I want to do more and will spend some time photographing at the harbor and marina for future work. As usual the beautiful birds in Delaware, Maryland, and at the rookery in York, Pennsylvania take my attention. Getting up close to be able to see all the details in their feathers and features is important to me, even as I try to move to more impressionist works. They are so graceful and magnificent flying above.
In addition, my son challenged me by giving me oil paints for Christmas and I am trying to get used to the different characteristics and techniques needed for oil painting. The slow drying time is great for blending, but hard for layering on top or finishing a painting close to exhibition time! Can’t really frame a wet painting easily. As I say, I am learning…
