May 7, 2017 – My newest subject is a snowy egret and her reflection in the canal. Reflections amaze me and are fun to try to replicate in paint. They fool the eye with the colors and water movement, at least my eyes! I found that if I take a picture of the painting as I go along and put it next to the original photograph of the subject, I can see what is really there, what I need to depict, rather than what my brain says is there. It is a challenge, but fun and very rewarding when it is right.
