April 18, 2017 – My first blog post had to wait until I was finished painting to focus on writing. I want to track my work as I progress to show, hopefully, my growth in my artwork. I can see progress in what I have done so far and see where I need to go next. It is slow going, but rewarding to see that I can learn as I go along. The wildlife and scenery in Fenwick Island, Delaware is amazing and very inspiring. The light is always changing and the colors vary with the time of day as well as the seasons.

Well, I finally finished my picture of snowy egrets titled “Ladies who Lunch” or “Blowing in the Wind.” I have been working on getting the texture in the marsh grasses, the water, and the birds feathers without getting too fussy. I reworked several times and adjusted color and shadows to get what I wanted. The wind was really ruffling their feathers and I wanted to show the motion and action as they sat in the sun.
